Other Rotary supported Youth Programs include scholarships\, leadership camp\, financial literacy\, teacher grants (used to enhance curriculum for students)\, Cool Kids Camp for disadvantaged youth\, middle and high school Interact (leadership training and community involvement) clubs\, and much more.\nWhen: Saturday\, June 22\, 2024 from 5-10pm\nWhere: Enmanji Temple Memorial Hall\, 1200 Gravenstein Hwy South\, Sebastopol\nThis is a country and western themed event so put on your cowboy boots and hat and plan to come out and enjoy dancing to the Marvelous Marshall Law Band.\nThe Rotary Club of Sebastopol also provides Community Grants and International Programs (e.g.\, Working to end polio in the world\, clean water in Mexico\, keeping Uganda girls in school) and more.

This free seven mile\, 3+ hour hike led by Forest Unlimited showcases the environment of a recovering river valley and redwood forest following centuries of human impact. \nDuring this out and back hike will be explaining some of the ecology and history of the Willow Creek watershed\, as we explore a landscape that transitions from riparian to second growth redwood forest. This is one of the most beautiful areas of the Sonoma Coast\, preserved and protected thanks to the work of Forest Unlimited and multiple organizations and public agencies. Forest Unlimited opposed multiple logging plans in Willow Creek and played a role in convincing Mendocino Redwoods to sell to Sonoma Coast State Parks. \nThis hike will take place on the morning of Saturday March 30. DESCRIPTION:In MovingWriting workshops\, we play with movement/dance and words to help us connect with our deep and creative selves\, in the company of a supportive circle. Giving voice to our own stories and witnessing the stories of others brings healing\, aliveness\, and connection with others. \nWe begin by moving to music in whatever way calls you. There’s no way to do this wrong! We then gather and write in response to an offered prompt. Then we dance a little more\, and write a little more\, and share our writing with each other along the way. No moving or writing experience is necessary. Bring a journal or notebook\, pens\, and a willingness to step into something new. \nLimited to 8 participants. \nHere’s what a few MovingWriting participants had to say about their experience: \n“Loretta’s well-crafted writing prompts sparked a writer inside me that I didn’t know I had… I left feeling invigorated\, accomplished and proud of myself for trying something new.” \n“I’m neither a writer nor a dancer\, but Loretta made it easy to put aside my inhibitions and let my emotional body lead the way… I recommend this class for anybody at all!” \n“It felt delicious to dive into my creative moving and language self with others. DESCRIPTION:The Learning Laguna school program for 3rd grade students has been going strong for years because of the skill and passion of committed community members who step-up\, participate in training\, then share the wonders of the Laguna with school children. Think you might like to do this? Come to one of these two orientations to find out what the docent training program entails. The actual training program takes place on eight Tuesdays between February 13 – April 16. Register here for the orientation. \nFriday\, Jan. 12\, 10 to noon or Tuesday\, Jan. 23\, 10 am to noon at Laguna Environmental Center\, 900 Sanford Road\, Santa Rosa.
