SUMMARY:Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation’s Knotless Netting Bag Workshop with Charlie Kennard
DESCRIPTION:Join the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation to practice processing dogbane sticks to extract the fiber and make sample cordage\, and then begin a small bag using hemp string supplied by the instructor. Knotless netting is a world-wide technique that involves various looping structures made with local fibers threaded on a needle. In California\, traditional suitable fibers include dogbane\, milkweed\, iris\, stinging-nettle\, and agave. Participants must bring: scissors\, pocket knife\, as well as lunch. Instructor Bio: Charlie Kennard of San Anselmo is a long-time basket weaver and student of California Indian and other traditional basketry techniques. He has taught for the Point Reyes Field Institute\, East Bay Regional Parks Botanic Garden\, the Laguna Environmental Center in Santa Rosa and in many schools and at teacher trainings. Tule boats made in his workshops can be seen at the Bay Model in Sausalito\, Lake County Museum\, and another is in the collection of the Oakland Museum. You can also visit a basketry plant garden Charlie has created at the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross. DESCRIPTION:The holiday months are almost here\, and we’re setting about to make our school’s fundraising as fun as possible! Online auctions have long been a successful means of raising funds for our school’s specialty programs and highlighting the talents and services of our extended school community. \nFunds raised from shopping at our Waldorf Wonder Auction go to support public Waldorf education at Sebastopol Charter School through the school’s fundraising entity\, The Charter Foundation. \nThe Charter Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public nonprofit corporation. We use the funds we raise to cover the gap in expenses between what the state provides and what it costs to maintain our school’s facilities\, hire high quality faculty\, and implement the meaningful Waldorf programming that makes up our curriculum. \nFor 28 years\, hands-on learning in the arts\, music\, and movement have helped our students to flourish\, and our recent move to a 20 acre campus promises a bright future for our school. All of these efforts were made possible by the dedication of our past and present families and extended business community.

SUMMARY:Graton Community Club Fall Flower Show
DESCRIPTION:Free Admission \nOur fall flower show theme is “Spook-Tacular” and you will be treated to wonderful floral displays depicting Halloween and the Fall Harvest. There will be a huge plant sale including succulents\, perennials\, drought-tolerant plants\, bee and butterfly plants. Also available are handmade crafts and novelties\, recycled treasures\, a raffle of local products\, and garden art. A $15 lunch is served both days from 11-2\, with coffee\, tea and desserts available all day. Live music from local musicians will entertain you. \nThis event benefits a scholarship program for local JC students and a building capital campaign to preserve our historic club house.\n707-829-5314 www.gratoncommunityclub.org
