DESCRIPTION:Fred Frey and Kamala from Vintage tree care will be teaching a hands-on fruit tree pruning class at Harmony Farm Supply. Fred has over 25 of years of experience in the arboriculture field\, with specialized training in fruit tree care and structural pruning. Participants will learn basic tree anatomy and how it relates to proper tree structure\, weight management and fruitwood distribution in a given species. Pruning tool handling and use will be covered as well as a basic ladder use as it applies to fruit tree care. If weather permits\, this will be an outdoor hands-on workshop\, so dress appropriately and bring your own hand or lopping shears. \nSaturday\, Jan. 27\, 10 am to 2 pm and 1 to 3 pm at Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery\, 3244 Gravenstein Hwy N.\, Sebastopol. DESCRIPTION:This free organic compost event is organized by the Sebastopol Climate Action Committee. Residents from the Sebastopol area are invite to come between 9am-noon to load compost into their own vehicle. Please bring your own shovel\, gloves and containers/truck (some bags will be available for those that need them) Approximately 1/2 cubic yard per household. Compost will be available until the pile is gone. Please ask volunteers for help if you are in need of assistance shoveling and loading your compost.

SUMMARY:Sebastopol Community Garden Volunteer Work Party
DESCRIPTION:The Sebastopol Climate Action Committee is working on a project to revitalize the Sebastopol Community Garden. We are planning a work party on Oct 8 from 10am to 1pm to continue the revitalization project we began last spring. \nThe spring work party really made a difference. Volunteers scraped out the existing path\, weeded and pruned making the garden much more inviting. The city was able to rent out more of the garden boxes but there is more maintenance to attend to and more boxes to be rented out. \nWe hope to have enough workers on Oct.8 to weed\, prune\, spread compost from the Compost Give Away around the fruit trees and scrape weeds from the path. We also hope to bring a sander and paint to restore the picnic table under the roof. \nWe would welcome volunteer groups or individuals to help us any time between 10am and 1pm. The apples will be ready to eat\, and the sun will hopefully be shining as we celebrate and help build our green future together.
