SUMMARY:A Sensory Evaluation Of Olive Oil With Pablo Voitzuk
DESCRIPTION:Learn to taste olive oil like an expert – from an expert! Pablo Voitzuk returns to Gold Ridge Organic Farms for another in-depth\, olive oil sensory experience. In this half-day long event\, we will explore how to evaluate a wide range of olive oils\, from both local and international producers. Learn how to detect specific aroma and flavor profiles\, as markers of high quality and flaws which are deemed either undesirable or show that an olive oil is past its prime. \nPablo Voitzuk travels the world as an international olive oil educator\, consultant\, and judge. He teaches at the Olive Oil Program of the Olive Oil Times in New York City and London. His consultancy takes him to olive orchards and mills throughout California\, New Zealand\, Portugal\, Uruguay\, and Turkey. A native of Buenos Aires\, he honed his expertise in olive oil and the curing of table olives while working with Apollo Olive Oil and Pacific Sun Olive Oil in Northern California\, and while studying with Dr. Marco Mugelli in Tuscany and with Dr. Pietro Paolo Arca in Sardinia. \nHe is a judge for local and international olive oil competitions\, including the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition at the Los Angeles County Fair; BIOL in Puglia\, Italy; the Japan Olive Oil Prize (JOOP) in Tokyo\, Japan; Sol D’Oro in Verona\, Italy; the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) in New York City; and the Premio Montiferru in Sardinia\, Italy. He has also been a member of the California Olive Oil Council (COOC) tasting panel from 2010 until 2022. COOC awarded him with the Best Miller of the Year award in 2015\, 2016\, and 2018 in their annual competition\, in the large producer category. \nBox lunch add-on optional. Space is limited.

SUMMARY:MovingWriting: Embodied Expressive Writing
DESCRIPTION:In MovingWriting workshops\, we play with movement/dance and words to help us connect with our deep and creative selves\, in the company of a supportive circle. Giving voice to our own stories and witnessing the stories of others brings healing\, aliveness\, and connection with others. \nWe begin by moving to music in whatever way calls you. There’s no way to do this wrong! We then gather and write in response to an offered prompt. Then we dance a little more\, and write a little more\, and share our writing with each other along the way. No moving or writing experience is necessary. Bring a journal or notebook\, pens\, and a willingness to step into something new. \nLimited to 8 participants. \nHere’s what a few MovingWriting participants had to say about their experience: \n“Loretta’s well-crafted writing prompts sparked a writer inside me that I didn’t know I had… I left feeling invigorated\, accomplished and proud of myself for trying something new.” \n“I’m neither a writer nor a dancer\, but Loretta made it easy to put aside my inhibitions and let my emotional body lead the way… I recommend this class for anybody at all!” \n“It felt delicious to dive into my creative moving and language self with others. For days after\, I felt both emptied and filled up creatively in ways that I hadn’t felt in a long time.” \n“I felt refreshed\, renewed\, and like I had processed some emotional blockages… The paths were opened and the words just flowed.”

SUMMARY:Sing\, Paint\, Love
DESCRIPTION:Surrender to the flow of sound through your bodies instrument\, quiet the mind and find your natural state of bliss. Gather with community to sing ourselves alive and send peace within and without. An evening of Indian Note singing practice on presence\, Devotional Chants and sacred english songs with Kiranjot Kaur and Kim Atkinson. Watch Rachel Balunsat as she creates live paintings in the resonant field of the group singing experience. Ceremonial Tea will be served and shared. \nKiranjot Kaur is a Vocalist\, founding member of CopperWimmin\, Kundalini Yoga teacher\, Indian Classical music teacher and a devotee of the Divine Mother. Copper Wimmin were featured on Democracy Now and their song Bleeding Rivers was featured on the Showtime Television series The L Word. In 2006 Kiranjot refocused her career around Indian classical music and spent five years living and studying under the guidance of her beloved teacher Dr. Ustad Narindar Singh in Amritsar\, India. No longer interested in performance where the audience is separate from the performer\, Kiranjot brings together her early experiences of community singing with Sweet Honey in the Rock and Bobby McFerrin with her love of Indian Classical music and the Kirtan tradition. From her travels through India to Chile and back she discovered that her favorite thing in this world is using her voice to inspire everyone to use their voices for quieting the mind\, surrendering to presence and revolutionary self-love. \nKiranjot invites everyone to be transformed by the healing power of their own voice as well as the practice of singing together as ONE. \nKim Atkinson:\nAs a professional percussionist\, Kim has worked with Master musicians and Dancers from the US\, Africa\, the Caribbean and Brazil since 1976. He has performed at such prestigious venues as the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival\, Brazilian Grand Carnaval Balls\, Stern Grove Summer Music Festival and Harrah’s Club in Reno\, Nevada. In 2004\, Kim performed and facilitated with Micky Hart’s “Planet Drum” holding the groove for over 4000 drummers. This is now the Guinness World Record for the most people playing the same song.\nCurrently\, Kim teaches young children the wonders of Body Rhythm\, teaches high school students World Percussion music\, accompanies poets and kirtan singers\, leads his own Brazilian style parade group\, does freelance percussion work\, teaches West African Music\, takes people on vision quests to Havasupai AZ\, and is learning to play new instruments\, including acoustic guitar and the most challenging drum in the world : East Indian Tabla. \nRachel Balunsat is a Visionary Abstract artist. She studied Las Bellas Arts at La Universidad de Granada and UCSC. But she fell uninspired as the world got more chaotic. Eventually she became a student of Tibetan Buddhism and after several long retreats\, Rachel finally felt a calling to paint Buddhas and Goddesses from her heart and was re-inspired. She was blessed with the name Dolma\, Tibetan name for Green Tara\, by her Lama. Soon after\, Studying with Visionary painter Amanda Sage sent her into a cathartic soul portrait which unleashed yet another direction following inner guidance. Dolma’s paintings have now become abstract renderings of her inner world expressing itself through color and movement\, spontaneity and playfulness.

SUMMARY:Autumn Equinox Sound Journey with Blue Muse & The Celestial Voice
DESCRIPTION:On this Exquisite Day\, as we align with the change Of seasons\, join Blue Muse & the Celestial Voice Sound Healing As we dive into the primordial sound current and soak in the celestial sounds\, deep vibrations and healing energy of a Sound Bath with 7 Gongs\, Crystal Singing Bowls\, Chimes\, Handpan\, Drums and Rattles. \nLet us bring the body\, mind and spirit into alignment\, melting away all stress and tension and stabilizing our bodies and minds in a place of equilibrium. \n  \nAutumnal Equinox is a day of equal day and night\, marking the start of the autumn season and the halfway point between summer and winter. In many cultures\, the Autumnal Equinox is a mythical and auspicious event\, and a potent time to conduct healing work. \nAccording to Greek mythology\, Autumn begins when goddess Persephone returns to the Underworld to live with her husband\, Hades. It is also believed that during the Autumnal Equinox\, one can stand an egg on its end\, a mystical sign of balance. \nIt’s a sacred time to seek protection and a clean slate on which to start fresh for the season ahead. Additionally you can tap into its motivational cosmic force to embark on change\, and reflect upon your own harvest—what you’ve taken in and what you need to let go of\, cultivating a healthy balance to bring you the ultimate\, abundant season ahead.
